Solar Attic Fans
How It works
The Dynamic of Attic Ventilation and Temperature Inversion.
Every night, after dusk the heat of the day drifts off and gradually the cooler, wetter air of the evening resides where the heat of the day once had been. The next morning the process is reversed. (Read more in “The Theory” in documentation)
Have you ever opened your attic access and been greeted with that blast of incredibly hot air? That’s “oppression” , and it’s responsible for keeping every home some 12-15 degrees hotter then it has to be. In addition, it’s the primary cause for most mold and mildew problems found in homes today. Our Solar fan is the only proactive solution to both these problems
Attic Ventilation
We’re on at dawn, exchanging the night air before the heat of the day ever hits. Then the SDF-20 keeps temperatures lower by exchanging the air of the attic with cooler exterior ambient air fast enough that heat gain never gets established. By keeping the attic air cooler, less heat can be conducted by the ceiling, which is the primary cause of heat gain within the house interior. In addition, we’re also going to increase the life of your roofing, as well as anything you may have in your attic space.
Direct Ventilation with No AC
In applications where heat gain is a problem and A.C. is not a viable option, this fan can do dramatic things. In houses with cathedral ceilings, we can reduce interior temperatures by directly venting this oppression from the upper part of any room, we allow for natural ventilation through doors and windows. We can do the same thing with a flexible duct and a grill for a “hot room”. Typically, most homes without central AC have a room generally located on the south side of the home that becomes almost unbearable throughout the afternoon. By drawing that heat out we actually draw the cooler air from other parts of the house toward it. The same concept works very well with 2-story homes, by getting the oppression out we allow the cooler air to circulate more freely.
Home owners that do rely on AC will realize increased significant savings.
Solar-Powered Products to Cool Your Home
Solar Dynamics, LLC, located in the heartland of America, was the first company to mass produce solar powered attic roof vents. In addition to being the innovator of the Solar Attic Fan, Solar Dynamics has developed a variety of battery maintainers that have been customized for several industries.
Cool It! With Solar-Powered Attic Fans, You Can Cool Your House For Less.
This is the home of the most powerful 20 watt solar fan on the market. If you have heat, you need Solar Dynamics. Our Solar attic fans are on the job at dawn.
Exchanging the air in your attic at such a rate that heat gain never has a chance to develop in the first place. We don’t cool, we proactively prevent heat.
Solar Dynamics Cyclone fans are built tough.
- Our products have been in service since 1992. In that time we have over 40,000 fans, in the field, still operable, enduring real-world testing, everyday.
- Our products are engineered with the very best materials available and are purpose built, there are real reasons for why we are, the way we are.
- Our stainless steel internals are designed to hold up to the harshest climates on this planet.
Don't be fooled by our Korad coated ABS housing, its UV and corrosion resistant, certified to withstand 140 mph winds and it won't resonate sound.
Our products are ultra tough and ultra quiet. Our fans have survived the toughest conditions over the last 16 years and most recently survived hurricane IKE.
Cyclone Solar Fan
The Cyclone solar powered attic fan is powered by a 20-watt photovoltaic panel and moves up to 1275 cfm of air. Its compact, low-profile design allows it to be used to reduce extreme heat build-up and condensation in a variety of locations. The fan is available with self flash, curb mount, and gable mount flashing for pitched or flat roof applications. The 'Remote' systems separate the panel from the fan for more flexible installation, and the turbine retrofit solar fan is designed to fit the base assembly of any 12” turbine fan.
